If you want to launch a file directly, you can use the command line to launch it directly into full screen mode. Have you tried going up to the View option on the menu bar and checked to see if Full Mode has a 'bullet' next to it(Ctrl+1). All the films are on one drive and all played ok on my other pc. It seems your PC is configured for 2 monitors.
