He began blogging in 2007 and quit his job in 2010 to blog full-time. wireless showed as connected but could not get on the internet. this is wierd. I suspect this will only work if you are using intel pro wireless adaptor. Windows 8 Windows 7: Select Start and then Search. please help.

If I disable the Local area connection it doesn't say media disconnected anymore but still no web. Not sure it will fix the problem, bit this would be my first step and will cause no damage at all to the computer. After hours, finally found the answer...if xp..go to control panel-network connections..open local area connection-advanced tab-unclick the internet sharing boxes that allow otehrs to connect and control your internet connection. (go figure- highlighting and then rite cliking on my `currently conected to pic in tray - for me its a pic of a blue monitor. Source Is the same possible solution for Windows XP service pack 3?
