Such a simple solution, but I just overlooked a complete program uninstall (could have been any program I was running I suppose), and reinstall. It's not been preset. Problems like this are usually down to hardware or drivers - please make sure you have the latest sets in place and check that you have the manufacturers drivers and not I have no drivers and cannot find drivers when i search the SMC sites which is my modem manufacturer.
